Betagroup

I went to see the Betagroup.be pitches last Tuesday. Here goes:

My price for the most pragmatic start-up goes to the first Brussels sandwich 2.0 delivery service: Clicknlunch.  Lots of companies on business parks need to have sandwiches & food delivered. This company takes the hassle out of the ordering. Simple, clean & well executed project claiming already 10.000 orders processed.  Nice!

The price for "company in space" goes to  Plotpointprod.eu which does product placement in Youtube video’s. Make a funny series of 20 Youtube films – try to include the product of the sponsoring brand – job done.  Oh and try to create buzz.
I had a chat with them after the presentation and their pricing sucked though. 15.000 euro's for a 5 minute movie on Youtube is a hell of a lot. And I don't care if you're cheaper than TV.

Other start-up website include :

  • Seetiz, a new restaurant website for Brussels, with a focus on quality and movies.
Too bad you can't find the restaurant menu's on it though. Btw, seetiz=cities. Got it?

  • Skillto, a site to find skilled workers, closely integrated on Facebook. Nice!

  • Happnr, a ambitious pan-European event site, 14.000 events in Belgium, skillfully data scraped. I'm not convinced scraping has a future but was still impressed by the good execution. Then again, I'm skeptical about privacy issues. What if my private party is scraped and 500 Hells Angels decide to pull up? Food for thought.

Please note the slick web 2.0 design, the data scraping and the seamless integration with social websites for all participants.Tellement web 2.0 monsieur!

Definitely one of the better Brussels Betagroups. I don't know where the organisers found five fresh ideas in the relatively small Belgian start-up crowd, but they managed to pull it off once again.

Don’t hesitate to attend the next event. Free drinks! Stimulating conversation! Websites!
